A woman has been accused of promoting and selling sex toys and pornographic materials from her Dubai flat.

The Egyptian woman was promoting the sale of the items via WhatsApp and Facebook and was found with 1,124 sexual enhancement objects and toys after an informant, acting on instruction from Dubai Police, feigned interest in buying the items, according to Gulf News.

The woman agreed to sell a sex doll for AED400

The 31-year-old woman and the informant arranged a meeting, where the seller was going to tell the buyer how to use the object, according to the report.

However, the Police surprised the seller, raided her flat and found the banned goods, which included electronic devices and items to enhance sexual performance.

The woman told the courts the items were for personal use and pleaded not guilty.

She was found guilty by The Misdemeanour Court and fined AED5,000.

She appealed before the appellate court, while prosecutors sought for a harsher punishment.

The appellate court sentenced her to one month prison followed by deportation.

The case was moved to the Cassation Court

Her lawyer argued that she was not selling the items, enforcement procedures were carried out illegally as there was no warrant for the original raid, and that the items are not banned as they can be found for sale in some shops.

The case has been reverted to the Appeal Court, where a new trial will be held.
