Emirates Has Figured Out A New System To Get Around The Electronics Ban

Avatar

When the new rules on electronics in UAE planes were announced, many were irritated that they’d have to check laptops and tablets in with luggage.

Emirates has created a new system for passengers, to help them safely transport devices, as well as be able to use them at the airports.

The new system will require passengers to surrender the devices upon boarding the plane

And they will be carefully and securely stored in the aircraft hold for the journey, before being returned to people on arrival.

The system allows passengers to use their devices at the airports, as well as safely transport the gadgets to their destination.

Emirates president, Tim Clark said in a statement, it’s only a small percentage of users who opt to use larger devices on flights, according to airline wi-fi information

“Once on board they can still stay connected on their mobile phones. Our historical data shows that on Emirates’ US flights, 90% of passengers using our onboard mobile and wi-fi connectivity services do so via their smart phones. Only 6% connect via their laptops, and 4% via their tablets. That is not to say that other passengers are not using their devices offline, but perhaps the silver lining to this is that they can now justifiably give themselves a break from their devices, enjoy our onboard service and catch up on the latest movies, music, and TV box sets that we have on offer.”

The new regulations go live on March 25
