You Can Now Use Your Emirates ID Instead Of Your Health Insurance Card
The Government of Dubai have announced a practical new development to make life a little easier for all residents.
If your insurance company has authorised the change it means you can ditch your insurance card as your Emirates ID card will now suffice when you visit medical clinics. The following insurance companies are already involved
Orient, Oman, Daman, RAK, Noor Takaful, Dar Al Takaful and Takaful Emarat
2,000 emirates ID readers have been distributed
Eventually all insurance companies will follow suit in a bid to make life more simple for residents and improve the flow of digital information. 2,000 emirates ID readers have been sent to clinics across the city and once the readers have been fully distributed (there are more on the way) it will become common for clinics to accept the Emirates ID over the insurance card.
The Emirates ID readers will be able to determine the type of health insurance cover you’re on, the type of insurance plan and your policy number
However, as it’s still a new system, people are advised to keep their insurance policies handy just in case the readers have difficulty reading the card
