Emirates Has Just Acquired A ‘Super-Jumbo’ Rolls-Royce Powered Plane And It’s Massive

Last week we heard that Emirates had been waiting on a shipment from Airbus of 12 airplanes, but the delivery had been postponed without reason.

Airbus, a leading plane manufacturer, are producing the fleet along with engine maker Rolls Royce. Airbus eventually confirmed last Tuesday that the delivery would be postponed over a two year period, but acknowledged that they would ‘step up cost cuts to minimise the impact of these delays.’

The first plane was finally delivered on Thursday morning

Just after Airbus confirmed that delivery of the fleet in full would be pushed back by two years, the first plane arrived. (It was originally scheduled for December 2nd).

Rolls-Royce, the famed car and now aero-engine manufacturing company are supplying the engines

Despite some technical issues detailed by Emirates President Tim Clark detailed in November, the company is supplying 50 engines to Emirates. The issues were fully resolved by Rolls Royce before handover and were attributed to engine issues affected by the desert climate here in Dubai
