An Emirati Has Been Arrested For Defaming The UAE And Inciting Hatred On Social Media

A local man has been arrested on Monday for using social media platforms to incite hatred and defaming the UAE. 

The Public Prosecution for Cybercrimes (PPC) ordered the arrest of Ahmed Mansour Al Shehhi, based on documentation of his use of social media to “publish false and misleading information that harm national unity and social harmony and damage the country’s reputation”.

Cybercrimes in the UAE can attract fines of up to AED3 million, and life imprisonment.
