Emirati business man Yaqoob Al Ali is really showing us what Year of Giving is about with this incredible act of kindness.

According to Gulf News, Brigadier Dr Mohammad Al Murr, Director-General of the General Directorate of Human Rights at Dubai Police said the charitable business man wants to bring joy to prisoners.

The businessman paid AED 100,000 to settle the financial dues of the prisoners

“We thank the businessman for his noble gesture as he has given the prisoners a chance to start a new life.”

“Dubai Police always cooperate with businessmen and charities to help people in the UAE. We help prisoners and people facing problems on humanitarian grounds. The money can help settle prisoners financial dues and to pay for their travel expenses after serving jail term.”

This is not the first time a businessman has offered to pay for the release of prisoners

In the last 10 days, Firoz Merchant, an Indian businessman aided the release of 132 prisoners from Ajman central prison, costing him AED 150,000 in total. The prominent jeweller has made similar charitable donations in the past, totting up to a total of AED 3.5 million.

This really is shaping up to be the Year of Giving

The UAE food bank was the first major initiative by the government to combat food wastage while helping those in need and now we’re seeing prominent business people and businesses make important public efforts to take part. The year-long initiative will show the world the tolerant and giving society we are living in, and ‘solidify the UAE as the world’s most giving nation’.

The government have even coordinated 4,250 volunteer opportunities so you can easily get involved at a local level
