Etihad Airways Is Embroiled In A Legal Battle With Air Berlin But Is Contesting The Lawsuit

Etihad Airways is being pursued with legal action by Air Berlin, for AED8.3 billion, but says it will fight the claim.

Air Berlin is currently going into insolvency and the administrator is pursuing legal action for damages of €2 billion from the Abu Dhabi-based airline.

Etihad Airways had a 29% stake in the company, but withdrew support from Air Berlin in August 2017.

A spokesperson for Etihad told media that it would be defending itself against the claim, which they say is ‘without merit’.

The case is being heard in the Berlin regional court.
