BREAKING: A Fire Broke Out In A Dubai School Causing Thousands To Be Evacuated
Around 2,200 students and teachers were evacuated from a school after a fire broke out in a classroom, according to a Dubai Civil Defence.
They received an alert at 11.50 am that a fire had broken at Al Khaleej National School in Al Garhoud.
Fire engines and ambulances reached the school in the next five minutes and brought the fire under control by 12.40 pm
Authorities say the school’s staff were trained to respond to fire emergencies, making the evacuation process quicker.
The fire started after an air-conditioning system on the first floor of the building overheated and emitted heavy smoke.
No injuries have been reported.
GEMS Education released a statement on the matter
“We confirm that there was an isolated fire related incident that took place in an elementary art class room of Al Khaleej National School, located in the Garhoud area of Dubai.
"The Dubai Civil Defence Department took control of the situation. All students and teaching faculty were immediately evacuated from the premises and there were no injuries.
"The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority, and we will continue to work with authorities in their investigation. “
