Hushpuppi’s Defence Lawyer Argues That The Nigerian Socialite Is Innocent And Has Been Set Up

In a turn of events, Ray Hushpuppi, a Dubai-based Nigerian socialite who was apprehended by the Dubai Police and the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), has pled innocent with his defence lawyer arguing that Hushpuppi obtained his wealth via designer brands sponsoring him and not through fraudulent means as revealed by authorities.

According to BBC, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas AKA Hushpuppi’s defence lawyer, Gal Pissetzky insists that his client who frequently boasted of his lavish lifestyle on social media platforms was “not a criminal and had made his money legitimately.”

Ramon Abbas has been accused of scamming his victims out of MILLIONS of dollars and mainly targetted US law firms, a foreign bank and an English Premier League football club.

37-year old Ramon Abbas’s lawyer is questioning how Hushpuppi was expelled from Dubai to the US and not back to Nigeria; as the FBI has denied being involved in the ‘extradition’ mission of the alleged fraudster

Hushpuppi who has been accused of defrauding, money-laundering, hacking, targetting victims all over the world in cyber heists and various other scams “has set the stage for what promises to be a long trial in American courts.”

This crackdown of Hushpuppi and his Nigerian conspirators has painted Nigeria in a negative light, leading to businesses in Dubai and around the world to impose a clause that excludes Nigerian job seekers from applying for various job vacancies.
