Not A Drill: The Hyperloop Is Coming And It Will Be Ready By 2020

The Hypeloop has been hyped to the nth degree and it looks like finally a completion date has been set, for a small part of the route.

By 2020, a 10-kilometre track will be ready for use. The full project, which will eventually provide a transport route between Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, is expected to cost a total of AED1.4 billion, however a completion date for the full route has not been announced.

It was reported last year that the 10km route will be on land owned by Aldar Properties and it will run to the new the Al Ghadeer community by the Dubai, Abu Dhabi border, a location that’s 20km from Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport and 40km from the Dubai Expo 2020 site.

Part of the first capsule is en route to France

The assembly stage was completed in Spain and the capsule in en route to France where it will be fully assembled, tested and optimised before it is transported to the UAE.

The hyperloop offers to transport travellers at speeds of 1,000 kilometres per hour. At current rates, it costs between AED73 million and AED147 million per kilometre to build. A report to government source WAM suggests it will take between eight and fifteen years in operation to recoupe construction costs.
