Doggy welfare group, K9 Friends has posted ads on Dubizzle with a bit of irony, to highlight the ongoing issues of attitudes towards pets in the UAE.

The group posted advertisements on Dubizzle, with heartbreaking captions about the dogs and their experiences, speaking of them being abandoned, pre-loved and left, and what they come with – as second-hand goods are.

The campaign, called #AdoptInvaluableDogs is aimed at reminding people animals are not disposable

They shouldn’t be given as gifts, bought as temporary or novelty items or dumped on the road when someone leaves the country.

The captions are written as though the dogs are second-hand goods.

Manager of K9 Friends, Helen Bragger told Lovin Dubai:

“We see the number of cases of abandoned dogs increase in the summer months, and the sad reality is that people are leaving their animals just like their unwanted items of furniture – the difference being that these animals are living, loving creatures that need a good home.

“Our #adoptinvaluabledogs campaign aims to highlight the fact that dogs are not second-hand objects. We really want to drive a culture of adoption in the UAE – a dog from a shelter makes an incredibly loving pet and adopting is such a rewarding experience.”
