A Teacher From Kate Middleton’s Former School Has Been Detained In The UAE After Sending Insult Electronically

A former teacher at the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s, former school has been detained in Abu Dhabi after sending an insult online.

CW, a 39-year-old teacher was working at a high school in Abu Dhabi at the time of his arrest. Previously W had worked as head of Computing at public school Downe House School in the UK.

According to his mother, who spoke to international media outlets, her son does not know which online post caused his arrest. CW is sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of approximately AED15,000.

CW has been detained since late December 2017 and claims to be unsure which online post he is being detained for, according to reports.

The federation in the UAE regards blasphemy, hate speech and other online as very serious matters, and criminalises all forms of discrimination on the grounds of religion, caste, creed, doctrine, race, color or ethnic origin.
