Dubai is a mess when it rains.
The roads flood, traffic’s a nightmare but the biggest question of all hangs over schools, will they stay open, will they shut… and you can imagine the KHDA, (the Knowledge and Human Development Authority) Dubai’s education authority who have the final word on whether all schools will remain open or not, had to deal with a load of questions from cautious parents on Sunday night, when the rain began to pour.
The KDHA’s social profiles have always taken a lighthearted approach to their responses. But throughout yesterday, the tweets caused a genuinely dumb-founded reaction, (it’s so rare social profiles show a sense of humour) and while some reckon the tweets were taking a lighthearted approach to a potentially dangerous situation, others thought these tweets were a breath of fresh air, with people even suggesting the KDHA brought light to the gloomy day.
(The tweets have been deleted, but the screen shots live on. What do you reckon, funny or no?)
It started off light hearted

The KHDA did delete many of the tweets, but Twitter still loves them
The belief that my kids are in safe hands strengthens on seeing the @KHDA tweets!! With this amount of wit and humour, the future looks depression-free!

Other even want to do the same
This has to be the most brilliant social media moment in the UAE. We’ve had clients calling us, wanting to know how to be more like KHDA. Love it – as a marketer and a parent. It’s a shame they deleted the posts.

So no hacking, just good fun
We try to be funny sometimes, but that doesn’t mean we’re not serious about our students’ safety. We love you all, rain or shine! ❤️❤️
