Sondos AlQattan, a Kuwaiti make up artist and social media influencer, posted a video recently criticizing Kuwait’s new labor laws, and it’s become viral since.

In the video, AlQattan is seen speaking on the new labor laws that allow domestic workers to be given one day per week off and can keep their passports to themselves.

The video sparked a major debate and the public is not having any of it.

Her views left the world in shock and she quickly became a victim of statements she made herself. There were calls for a public apology due to the remarks made by Sondos.

Now, after constant threat from people to boycott products and companies that were sponsoring the influencer, several top brands have cut ties with AlQattan as her views don’t represent those of the concerned brands.

Even after deleting her video and taking down her Instagram account for a while, the issue has escalated to such an extent that Sondos AQattan has posted somewhat of a justification to her comment.

This the statement released by Sondos AlQattan

Twitter is a platform where people are known to express themselves, and in this case they’ve expressed themselves pretty loud

People have been voicing their opinions under the #sondosalqattan hashtag

“She’s defending her idiotic statement”

No remorse!

People have accused her of supporting modern day slavery

There still are people who agree with everything Sondos has to say

“And what about my right as her sponsor when she keeps her passport? What guarantees that when she goes out in the weekend, she comes back in the same state? And who guarantees my right when I’m linked to something negative that I didn’t do?”

“One day per week is honestly too much (break) we give her one day off per month and my mum even keeps track during the day”..
