10 Men Behind Bars After Dubai Police Find More Than Than 1,000 Marijuana Plants On A Farm
Lollipops containing marijuana, luggage stuffed with marijuana and now a farm with more than 1,000 marijuana plants.
This is the latest in a series of drug-related crimes in the city. Dubai Police have arrested ten Pakistani men, between the ages of 20 and 50, after they discovered 1,000 marijuana plants (that’s about 7,615 kilograms of the drug) at Al Faqa, a farm in a remote area of Dubai.
A policeman from the anti-narcotics department told The National that they were tipped off about one of the defendants and after investigations they found out about the farm. They then obtained warrants before arresting the men at the farm.
The plants were grown in the middle of the farm around other types of plants so they could be hidden. The police also found dried marijuana and marijuana compressed into plates around the farming tools.
One of the defendants stated that the drugs were prepared for people who would come to the farm to consume it. In addition to charges of growing and possessing marijuana, seven of the defendants have also been charged with consuming marijuana while the 50-year-old has been accused of consuming morphine.
None of them have entered a plea. The verdict is expected on 29 November.
