Move Over Germany: This Southeast Asian Country Now Has The Most Powerful Passport In The World

Once heralded as the most powerful passport in the world, Germany has now slipped to the second position, and with a visa-free score of 159, Singapore passport has officially become the world’s most powerful one, according to Passport Index.

Countries are graded on the basis of the number of places its citizens can travel to without a visa, and while Germany has a score of 158, Singapore has it beat by one position.

People with Singapore passport can now travel to 173 countries visa-free

This is the first time an Asian country has beat an European country in this game of passports. This shift in position happened when Paraguay recently removed its visa requirements for Singaporeans. 

UAE, however, still has the most powerful passport in the GCC region

With an overall ranking of 26 and visa-free score of 128, Emiratis can travel to many different countries around the world, sans a visa.
