If you’re a resident you can wave goodbye to ridiculously long passport control queues, the newly introduced smart gates are a super practical feature introduced by Dubai airport, that will save travellers huge amounts of time.

Just swipe your Emirates ID, the process takes between 10 and 15 seconds

So that’s all it takes. A simple swipe of your Emirates ID and you’re through. The system was introduced earlier this year and already more than 234,000 residents have made use of it.
