RTA Revealed A Cardless NOL Card At Gitex And This Is Just What We Needed

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority RTA revealed a virtual Nol card initiative at Gitex 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The annual tech exhibit is known for being a host to new tech developments in all areas of every sector. The initiative is part of a new set of solutions and applications in support of Nol card uses so that residents will use it smoothly, adding to the ease factor of the whole process.

So it’s basically like Apple Pay but for all your RTA-related needs

It was also announced that other forms of public transportation fare, like parking fees, shopping at specific retail outlets, and gas stations could soon turn cardless.

“We are keen to familiarise the public with this initiative for buying the virtual Nol card and saving it in their mobile phones where they can top-up the card directly from their credit cards, which are saved in their phones. The NFC feature has to be enabled in smartphones of riders such that they can use the virtual Nol card in paying fares for metro, bus, tram and marine transport services.”

RTA plans to roll out the virtual Nol cards in the third quarter of 2020
