The Government Has Confirmed A Public Holiday For This Week

The UAE government has confirmed there will be a public holiday for Islamic New Year this week, but has yet to confirm the date – due to the moon sightings. 

It has been announced the day will be a paid public holiday for both private and public sector, however it could fall on either Thursday or Friday. 

It is likely the particular date will be announced on Wednesday. 

According to national news agency WAM, the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash extended his sincerest greetings and blessings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates.
