The Oscar for best male actor has just been announced and drum roll please…
Rami Malek has won best actor for his role as Freddie Mercury in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
Malek is the son of immigrants from Egypt and is the first actor EVER of Egyptian origin to win an Oscar. AMAZING!
“I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I’m a first generation American…this is something I will treasure for the rest of my life.”
In his emotional speech he thanked everyone who helped him on his journey, “To the people who took a chance on me every step of the way… I may not have been the obvious choice, but I guess it worked out”.
His tweet when his nomination was announced was just as gracious
