There’s something you don’t hear every day. Salt Bae has been fined a shocking 35,000 Turkish lira or AED21,553 and supervision for five years because he had threatened to kill one of his former employees in 2015, according to The Khaleej Times.

The UAE’s viral king, Salt Bae, known for the incredibly delicious meat at his many Nusr Et branches and for the viral video that has made him a global celebrity- pretty much overnight.

The ‘verbal assault’ took place in Istanbul

The Khaleej Times adds that Chef Nusret Gokce had verbally assaulted Ali Ihsan Kandil, a former employee at one of his restaurants after he had sat female customers in the same table as male ones.

Kandil told Daily Mail that Chef Salt Bae never apologised to him, and he ended up winning the case with a pending 35,000 Turkish lira still yet to be paid to him. Nusret’s supervision under means he should be receiving regular checks by the police under the Istanbul 23 Penal Court of First Instance.

Nusret Gokce has become a restaurateur icon- in a short span of time

Salt Bae gained worldwide notoriety following a video posted on Instagram on January 7, 2017, titled the ‘Ottoman Steak’. Since then, his claim-to-fame had him meet celebrities, keen royals and loyal customers.

Now he’s got more restaurants opening up adding to the pre-existing Nusr Et branches in Dubai, Istanbul, Miami and New York.

Wonder how this will turn out.
