Chef Izu has undoubtedly made his mark on the Dubai dining scene, but a visit from HH Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to his new Mediterranean-Greek resto Gaia, further cements his status.

HH Sheikh Mohammed was pictured leaving the distinctive DIFC restaurant along with HH Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, the snaps were shared on Chef Izu's Instagram account this week.

Chef Izu is also part creator of Carine, The Lighthouse and Izu Brasserie - three established Dubai eateries

Gaia is his newest establishment, the one that caught the glare of the media late last year, after local food critic Foodiva shared a harsh criticism of the restaurant and the chef responded in kind, banning the critic from the Gaia.

HH Sheikh Hamdan gave his seal of approval to the restaurant and chef in November

Followed by HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum later that same month
