The American University of Sharjah has taken an initiative to ban single-use plastic from campus starting 2020, according to local reports.
The whole idea is to contribute to the sustainability of the environment by banning plastic that has a negative impact on the earth.

It’s time for a change..
Starting in January 2020, all vendors on campus will be banned from selling water in plastic bottles.
Plastic utensils such as straws, containers, plates and cups will also be prohibited on campus.
Plastic has severe environmental consequences
It is highly important to cut down on plastic because of the impact that it has on the environment and the oceans. Plastic waste that ends up in the sea affects aquatic animals.
Even though plastic is a common and useful product, it is still very harmful to the environment, and everyone needs to start taking small initiatives to make this planet better.

It’s time to start paying attention to the environment
The American University of Sharjah is the first university in the UAE that has taken this excellent initiative for the sustainability of the environment.
