A Dubai Cafe Has Been Shut Down For Allowing Smoking

A Dubai cafe has been shut down, with 74 more fined over smoking violations according to the Dubai Municipality.  

73 cafes were issued with smoking permits in the last month, but violators have been fined for not following the protocol. 

It’s unspecified what cafe was closed. 

The Municipality issued a statement on Sunday regarding the closures

Director of Health and Safety Department of Dubai Municipality, Redha Salman saying: “The Municipality has banned smoking in all places of entertainment in the emirate, which include billiards and snooker halls, electronic games areas and internet cafes.” 

He reiterated the laws, explaining: “The law prohibits offering shishas in cafes near mosques, educational institutions, clubs and residential areas. 

He continued: “Offering shishas without a permit, violating the terms of permits, and allowing the presence of children under 18 inside the cafes.”
