The Top 10 Airlines List For 2017 Is Out BUT Emirates Isn’t On It

Avatar

It’s no secret that Emirates is a fantastic carrier and is hands down our favourite. However, when Airlineratings.com, the world’s foremost safety and product rating website, released its list for world’s top ten airlines for 2017, Emirates wasn’t on it. Sources say the crash landing incident which took place in August caused the damage to the airline’s safety records.

The best of the best crown went to Air New Zealand

To be named in the top ten, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. Air New Zealand is going strong – it’s taken the number one spot for the fourth consecutive year.

The ones who made it on the list include:

Qantas Airways at number two followed by Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Etihad Airways, All Nippon Airways, Eva Air and Lufthansa.

At its Airline Excellence Awards, there were other winners too

Best Economy Class – Singapore Airlines

Best Cabin Crew – Virgin Group airlines

Best Catering and Best Lounge – Qantas

Best long-haul – Etihad (Middle East/Africa), Singapore Airlines (Asia/Pacific), Virgin Atlantic (Europe) and Delta Airline Lines (The Americas)

Best low-cost airline – Virgin America (The Americas), Scoot (Asia/Pacific), Kulula.com (Africa/ Middle-East) and Norwegian (Europe)

And Emirates won the Best In-Flight Entertainment

Totally understandable! After all, very few airlines have the ability to keep us as entertained as Emirates does on long-haul or even short flights. The Dubai-based carrier has been described as “one of the pioneers of IFE” – by 1993 all the airline’s seats were fitted with IFE.

Just in case it’s been a while since you travelled on an Emirates flight…

On the I.C.E system you can follow the progress of your flight, enjoy the views from the external cameras, stay updated with news or use the phone, SMS and email features. And how can anyone forget the 600 channels of entertainment?
