150 UAE Residents Have Just Cleaned Up Literally A Tonne Of Trash
More than a metric tonne of waste was collected and cleaned up from Fujairah this week, as part of the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign.
Organised by the Emirates Environmental Group, in association with the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the event began at Dibba Beach in the eastern emirate on Tuesday.
More than 150 people participated – including mainly enthusiastic students from local schools.
The event is to encourage residents across the emirates to get involved, and plenty hope to have the EEG visit their area.
“This year, EEG received a lot of requests from many stakeholders to organise the campaign in their areas which is a sign that the objectives of the campaign were perfectly reached over the last 15 years and the communities are now keen on being involved in it.”
Chairperson of the EEG, Habiba Al Mar’ashi
Meanwhile, Dubai residents have expressed frustration at the trash left behind at Al Qudra Lakes
With one Lovin Dubai reader sharing photos of mounds of garbage left behind by visitors to the area.
