The UAE And Saudi Have Announced A Strategic New Partnership Outside The GCC
The UAE and Saudi Arabia have announced the two states are forming a partnership for military and economic cooperation outside that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the UAE Foreign Ministry has announced.
The move was announced just hours prior to the GCC meeting in Kuwait, aimed to resolve the Qatar Crisis.
The news was announced on national news agency WAM, with statements:
“According to the Resolution, the Committee is assigned to cooperate and coordinate between the UAE and Saudi Arabia in all military, political, economic, trade and cultural fields, as well as others, in the interest of the two countries. The Committee shall have all the powers necessary for carrying out and executing its work.”

The committee is designed to help the UAE and Saudi ‘cooperate and coordinate’
In political, military, economic, trade and cultural fields – outside that of the GCC.
The move could have implications on the GCC’s authority in the region, as Saudi and the UAE enjoy a long and stable relationship.
The GCC consists of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
