Texters Beware: A Man Has Been Jailed For Sending ‘Love Messages’ On WhatsApp
A young Emirati man, who sent ‘offensive’ WhatsApp messages to an Arab woman is appealing his jail sentence.
The 20-year-old man was given a three month prison sentence along with an AED20,000 fine for messaging a woman and asking her to become his lover, according to the Khaleej Times.
He continued to text the woman, despite her asking him to stop, telling the woman ‘he was the only man for her’.
The woman eventually contacted authorities
He claims he did not know he was offending the woman, he hoped his propositioning could develop into a relationship and marriage. The woman’s lawyer has asked for compensation.
The case will resume on October 15.
