In A World First The UAE Has Launched A Code For Tolerance And Peace
The UAE was the first country to introduce a minister for happiness and now it’s gone one step further to create a happier environment by launching a ‘tolerance charter’.
What is a tolerance charter?
Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, the UAE’s Minister for Tolerance said the charter’s initiatives are to promote values of tolerance and coexistence while combating extremism and racism.
The UAE as an example to the rest of the world
Another key element was to promote the true meaning of Islam and the Minister highlighted the key role the media plays in this endeavour. There are over 200 nationalities (and countless religions) living peacefully here – setting an example here could combat the sometimes negative view of Islam around the world.
This is all part of Sheikh Mohamed’s vision for 2020

“Strengthening the government’s role as an ‘incubator’ for tolerance… consolidating the family’s role in nation building; promoting tolerance among youth and steering them away from extremism; enriching scientific and cultural content; and integrating international efforts to promote tolerance.”
