Ahmed Obaid – Ship builder
2 years, 25 people and 6,000 tons of wood and steel
According to CNN News, Ahmed Obaid is a third generation ship builder who along with his team, are working night and day to put finishing touches to the vessel.
Using techniques learnt from his father, this will be a manmade masterpiece, using a process that Ahmed stresses is ‘more more like art than conventional construction’. Traditional structures were made purely of wood but steel has been added to ensure the strength of the boat.
