There’s An App In Dubai That Rewards Students When They Don’t Use Their Phones

There’s a Dubai app that rewards the youth with shopping discounts AND the chance at a full-on university scholarship by refraining from using their phones.

How, you ask?

According to Arabian Business, the free app Lock & Stock was launched in 2017, and it was created so that students kept their focus in class, instead of using their phones. Points available for redeeming, allow the students to “use the points to redeem offers and discounts from over 300 brands in the UAE.”

The app has 27,000 students in the UAE currently registered

More than 400 schools across the UAE have 27,000 students registered on the app, which rewards them for keeping their phones locked in class.

But this week, a new offer means students can now use the points to waive off fees in universities and avail scholarships

Some of the universities that have taken part in the app’s initiative are Herriot-Watt, Manipal, RIT and Canadian University Dubai.

The app aims to restructure how education is in the UAE, with plans to eventually do the same globally.

Pretty cool.
