The Open-Air Canvas That Is Jumeirah Road And Dubai Metro Music Festival Have One Thing In Common

There are a couple of stand out cultural projects in Dubai which, until now, you may have missed the connection.

Like how Jumeirah Road quickly became a colourful open-canvas, portraying memories of residents who grew up there, how a ‘pilot edition’ for a Metro music festival grabbed international headlines for its unique concept OR how a 3D art festival has given life to different parts of the city.

Brand Dubai, the creative arm of Government of Dubai Media Office, works under HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s wisdom to ‘transform Dubai into an open museum’, and under the leadership of Director Nehal Badri, Brand Dubai is successfully following that call.

Brand Dubai engages the community to create a legacy of further creativity among residents

From the Metro music festival, to the Hatta murals, each project follows HH’s vision to leave the door open for more creativity. As well as unconventional beautification which is visible throughout the city, Brand Dubai also has a network for supporting local projects which have started in Dubai dubbed, Proudly From Dubai.

Further projects like the international initiative Evolvin’ Women, one that Badri states remains close to her heart, prove there is an olive branch out there to support residents from all over the world who endeavour to create initiatives that are unique to Dubai.

In this episode of Dubai Works, Nehal Badri gives a behind-the-scenes insight into the inner-workings of Brand Dubai
