Update: FIFA Has Dismissed Claims Of About Gulf States Wanting Qatar’s World Cup Revoked

The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen and Mauritania were reportedly written to FIFA requesting the football body strip Qatar of the 2022 World Cup, due to it being a ‘base of terrorism’ however the story has been dismissed by FIFA and authorities. 

The claims have been dismissed by FIFA, stating the story was ‘fake news’. 

Reports suggested the six countries contacted FIFA asking it to remove Qatar as host of the 2022 competition, due to article 85 of the FIFA code which allows removal in cases of emergency. 

The story came amid UAE’s severing of diplomatic ties with Qatar in the Gulf fall out.
