Does This Italian Have The Best Spit Roast Chicken In Dubai
From Milano to Dubai
The story of this restaurant dates by to a small city family home in Milan in 1926, run by a lady named Beatrice Ruggeri, or Bice. The BiCE brand is now dotted around the globe in cities like London, New York and Dubai and has managed to retain that unique homely welcome and style of food. While Italians are known for pasta and pizza this place isn't your typical Italian. It manages to combine what we would expect in terms of freshness; tomatoes, bread and olive oil, but also adds amazing spit roast Chicken.
Are You Really Ordering Chicken?
You will find the chickens being cooked on the spit in the oven as you glance over the service area while you take your seat. This is no Nandos. Actually, this is to Nandos as AC Milan is to Boavista (a very average Potruguese football team). The best thing about ordering half a chick and steamed veg in an Italian is that you leave feeling renourished, like you've had a day working on the farm and a good healthy feed afterwards.
Which One to Eat In?
You'll fine three of them in Dubai. One at the South end of the Beach on JBR, one on City Walk and one in Souk Al Bahar. The staff are always attentive, the prices are reasonable and it's accommodating for a late breakfast, a coffee, lunch or dinner. It's a place for the family too, I once saw the staff teach kids how to make pizza while diners looked on.
Now if you had to push me, I'd recommend The Beach for lunch, City Walk for breakfast or a weekend brunch, and Souk Al Bahar for evening dinner. If I was to vote for best staff, I'd say City Walk wins that accolade, the waiter there remembered my name with three months in between visits.
To summarise, Sapori Di Bice, has all the quality of an Italian, without the strains of a brand that has strayed to far from it's roots. Everything Carluccio's wishes it is.
