The Best Mexican Food In Dubai

If we could eat at Maya every night, we would

I'm visiting Dubai from sister site Lovin Dublin at the moment, and happened to stumble over Mexican-masterpiece, Maya while staying at Le Royal Meridien in JBR. The truth is, you’ll struggle to find people who don’t like really good Mexican food. Not only are burrito bars sweeping the world in terms of popularity but the high-end restaurants are becoming a must-visit too.

When you think about it...what’s not to like? The food is flavoursome with the menus large and varied, there's something to suit everybody. Show me someone who doesn’t like avocados and I’ll show you snow in Dubai (and no, you can't count Ski Dubai).

I've been to Dubai a number of times now, and Maya is one of the best places I've tried, Mexican or otherwise. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's among the best Mexican food I've ever tasted internationally, and that includes Mexican food hot spots like California.

The place just oozes class as well as being home to some of the most beautiful, cool and downright fun people in the city. They come to Maya to have a good time and to let their hair down, the people-watching here is as good as the food.

I started with the lobster taquitos (reasonable at AED 85) and they were absolutely outstanding. The rich lobster bisque based sauce an absolute delight.

With guacamole to pick at too, I couldn't get enough of the succulent flavours. The beauty here is that unlike other Mexican restaurants, where they pile it high, the portions are just right, leaving you excited for a main.

And my enchiladas where absolutely spot on too. I wished I'd gone for something more original, but I'm a sucker for these wherever I go, and they didn't let me down.

The pricing here is reasonable for the serious quality on offer. My only wish, as I said, is that I could eat and drink here every night of the week. The dark, seductive lighting, beautiful people, slick cocktails and killer food have a way of drawing you in, and before you know it, a quiet meal has turned into shots at the bar with new friends. My kind of place.
