12 Of The Absolute Best Musical Performances You NEED To See This Formula 1 Weekend

Abu Dhabi GP weekend is fast approaching, and with it – some of the hottest musical acts on the planet. 

Abu Dhabi‘s busiest weekend of the year sees all kinds of celebrities visiting and performing and 2017 is no exception. 

In chronological order, here are just a few of the biggest and best performers playing in the capital this weekend. 

1. Thursday: Calvin Harris 

He feels so close to you right now, it’s a force-field. Superstar DJ Calvin Harris will be kicking off the weekend with a massive bang. 

He’s previously performed at du Arena for Creamfields Abu Dhabi and his energy-filled party set is going to start things in just the right vibe. 

2. Friday: Busta Rhymes 

One of the greatest rappers of all time, Busta Rhymes will be performing at the Rich List VIP venue, Party Under The Stars at Yas Viceroy. 

He’ll be performing all his classics.

3. Friday: J.Cole

Back to du Arena, J.Cole will be playing all his hip-hop hits on the big stage on Friday night. 

It was bad news when Kendrick Lamar pulled out of the Friday concert but Flash swooped in with great news a few weeks ago that J.Cole would be filling the slot. 

4. Friday: Iggy Azalea 

Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea will be pumping out her beats at MAD on Yas Island – previously O1NE Yas Island. 

The round club means everyone can get up close and personal with the superstar.

5. Martin Garrix

He shot to fame thanks to his addictive hit, Animals back in 2013, and was discovered by Tiesto (who is also coming!). 

He’ll be rocking the du Forum stage thanks to Alchemy Events’ line-up ‘Beyond The Track’.

6. Mumford & Sons 

Playing the Saturday of Yasalam After-Race concerts, Mumford & Sons will be playing their folksy pop at du Arena. 

This one is for F1 ticket-holders only, but ticket-holders can upgrade to golden circle for a small additional fee so you can get front-and-centre.

7. Friday: Craig David

Craig David has been smashing it with his DJ show, TS5 and he’s bringing it to the stage at the Party Under The Stars. He blends his best hits in with some serious remixes and it REALLY works. 

Where: Rich List, Yas Viceroy. 

8. Friday: Sven Vath

The German DJ and producer loves a bit of the UAE, he’s previously played Blue Marlin Ibiza, and this F1 is performing at the El Chiringuito pop-up at Yas Beach. 

Papa Sven will be playing his electro-tunes until the wee hours, along with Apollonia and DJ Tini as part of the NOMAD party. 

Sven Vath will be on at 1-4am so it’s set to be a HUGE night.

9. Saturday/Sunday: Ella Eyre 

She’s been waiting all night, and now she’s coming to Amber Lounge on Saturday AND Sunday for intimate performances. Amber Lounge is the ultimate VIP experience on F1 weekend – and if you go along you’ll likely rub shoulders with drivers, celebs and maybe even royalty! 

A favourite hang-out of Lewis Hamilton and Prince Harry, this is the VVIP place to be.

10. Sunday: P!NK 

Superstar P!NK will be playing at du Arena to close the race weekend on Sunday evening with the Yasalam after-race concerts. She’ll be belting out all her new releases and of course her classics. 

She’s known for her athletic and jaw-dropping performances, wowing audiences with her skills on acrobatic silks and brilliant dances.

11. Sunday: Tiesto 

One of the most celebrated DJs of all time, Tiesto is coming to perform at the du Forum as part of the ‘Beyond The Track’ series. His high-energy sets have been smash hits all across the globe and this weekend is no exception.

12. Sunday: Wiz Khalifa 

Freshly announced to be starring on Sunday night at MAD on Yas Island, Wiz Khalifa will be playing, following on from Iggy Azalea and NeYo at the nightclub. 

He’ll be bringing his unique style of hip-hop to the stage.
