6 Common Dating Techniques That Are Actually BIG Mistakes

Avatar

This might shock you, but common dating tips and tricks you’ve picked up over the years may not be as effective as you think…

The thing about techniques is they’re not natural, and the big-learner from the following six-points is you will have wayyy more success if you simply BE YOURSELF. And Axe, the go-to fragrance for guys just want you to remember to chill, because you’re hotter that way.

The following dating techniques are all big no-nos. Read now, avoid later.

1. Hold off on the ‘good morning’ texts until you’re actually in a relationship

Or you may as well plaster ‘KEEN’ across your forehead.

You might think a good-morning text is a cute way to show you care. However, until you’re actually in a relationship, the ‘good morning’ texts are too-much, too-soon and way too samey.

Be unique with your texts. A random, cute snap throughout the day works better than a cheesy morning text.

2. No pick-up lines necessary

Are you from Tennessee? ‘Cos you’re the only 10 I see… Lines like this on DM or in person might get you a laugh, but if you’re actually looking for a relationship? Pick-up lines look way too try-hard.

A simple ‘how are you?’ actually shows you care.

3. Don’t look for the person your family EXPECTS you to meet

We live in a swipe-left, swipe-right world and it’s easy to ignore hundreds of people, because they don’t match you (or your family’s) ‘type’.

Be strong. Be sure of what YOU are looking for and broaden your dating-field to a whole new potential Bae-dom.

4. Don’t expect marriage on a first date

This is a common mistake. You meet someone, you get their number, you arrange a date… you then start thinking if your parents will like your new boo. Too early, bro!

A first date is way to soon to consider any sort of future. Just because you’ve picked up that they like the same restos as you, or that you’re both into the same thing does not mean it’s time to start setting a date.

Be chill. Eager is never a good look.

5. Don’t over-analyse every. single. detail after a date

Did you arrange the date spot or did they? Did you pay or did they? Did you ask for a second date or did they? Did you text first or did they? Did you analyse every tiny detail from the date or did they?

Only the last point matters. Over-analysing will give you a pain in the head and little else. Don’t stoop to replaying every second of the date through your head, keep it natural, and if you’re keen, arrange another date. If not? On to the next!

6. Don’t monologue about yourself

Sure, you want to paint yourself in the best light but no one likes a talker, when it’s primarily a show-boater series all about themselves.

Trying to impress bae with OTT stories does not equal a good date.

Alternative? Remain calm, be yourself and ask questions!
