UAE Wins First Olympic Medal In 12 Years!
When Sergiu Toma pinned down Italian Matteo Marconcini to win bronze media in the Mens Judo under 81kg contest in Rio, he became only the second ever winner of an Olympic medal for the UAE.
Who is Sergiu Toma
Sergiu Toma (29) is a Moldovan born-Emirati judoka. He competed in the men’s 81 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, reaching the third round.[ At the 2008 Olympics, he competed in the men’s lightweight (-73 kg), losing in the first round. This is his 3rd Olmypic games and he secured a bronze medal.
