A New 100% Tax Has Been Introduced In A Bid To Enhance Public Health
In 2017, a tax on cigarettes was introduced and now the law is being expanded to electronic smoking devices and refills.
The items will be taxed by 100%.
A 50% tax will also be added to products with added sugar or sweeteners.
The move is an effort to enhance public health and reduce consumption of unhealthy goods, according to a tweet from the UAE Government.

The move is guided by three important aims
To reduce consumption of harmful goods, prevent chronic diseases linked to sugar and tobacco and help consumers make sensible healthy choices.
