Here Are 5 Kitsch Dubai Eateries You Won’t Be Able To Visit WITHOUT Snapping A Pic

Chain restos, these are not.

If you love the feeling of eating at a spot that’s as much about the atmosphere and the vibes it’s giving off as it is about the food, then you’ll love these places.

From the truly old school, to newbies on the scene, here are five eye-catching restos that are worth a try…

1. Piccolo Mondo Bay

If you’ve passed this spot, you’ll know all about it. The ENTIRE space is decked out in a pirate theme, think ship wreck on the Dubai Marina promenade and you’re heading in the right direction.

For luvvas of seafood and shisha and an OTT under-the-sea theme, this is the spot to hit.

2. Mr. Miyagis

If you’ve been to Bangkok, this place SCREAMS Thailand…Seriously, the decor of Miyagis looks like the Khao San Road threw up on it, and that’s no bad thing. Think 90s DVDs, glitter bombs, Thai figurines, lady boys and buckets galore. It’s an explosion of colour and makes for a brilliant night out… if you can brave the crowds.

Where? Media One Hotel, Media City

3. Al Ustadi Special Kebab

Walk into Al Ustad Special Kebab and it’s like walking back in time. The friendly staff make you feel like you’re coming home and the smells wafting from the kitchen are pure home cooking vibes.

It serves up traditional Persian food which is incredible once you can take your eyes off the walls that are completely covered with old photos and trinkets. Open since 1978 this is a genuine gem that’s definitely worth a visit.

Where? Al Mankhool Road, Near Al Fahidi Metro Station

4. Bu Qtair Fish Restaurant

This popular haunt was transformed from side of the road pitstop (that was visited by Anthony Bourdain) to an almost featureless cement building just across the road.

Though (hate to say it) the charm of sitting on plastic stools has gone, this food is still just as good and you’ll find it packed out with all different nationalities every weekend, all hammering to try the fried fish and prawns which are EXCELLENT.

Where? Fishing Harbour 2, Umm Suqeim 2

5. The secret garden at L’Eto

L’Eto is a popular City Walk spot where the pretty food matches the equally pretty interiors and if you love all things floral, this is your new favourite spot.

The new secret garden has taken flower walls to a new level, totally plastering the ceiling in stunning dainty pink flowers and giving genuine secret garden vibes the second you walk in the door. It’s a boutique little spot, you won’t find anywhere quiet like it in Dubai.
