Save the drama for the Courtyard Playhouse Dubai because thas where drama queens are truly appreciated! You feel?
The Courtyard Playhouse Performing Arts Training Center is the first and only dedicated improv’ theatre and KHDA licensed training centre in UAE. It is home to Theatresports Middle East, affiliated with the International Theatresports Institute.
Nestled in the creative heart of Dubai, amongst galleries and cafes, the Courtyard Playhouse has grown rapidly from a beautiful 60 seat auditorium office and green-room, to include a 40 seat studio, workshop and a rehearsal room in 2018. It is centrally located, near the Mall of the Emirates, easily accessible from Sheikh Zayed Road.
Home to a vibrant community of theatre-lovers who come to the Playhouse to learn, explore, volunteer, perform, make friends and be a part of something beautiful
The Playhouse offers workshops in acting and improvisation for all ages, corporate training and development using improv’ techniques, two improv’ showcases per week, vintage film screenings, National Theatre Live and Improvised Kids’ Storytime.
Improv is a wonderfully fun way to expand your comfort zone, build confidence, learn to listen to and connect with others, become aware of subtle signals, become less risk-averse and develop adaptability and resilience.
It is therefore very beneficial for errason from teens, who often find a place where they feel accepted and free to be themselves, to corporate teams who connect through laughter and shared vulnerability… GREAT for a team-building exercise.
So go on and enjoy the fun, warmth and passion that defines the Courtyard Playhouse!
When the COVID-19 tragedy struck, the Courtyard Playhouse Dubai was instructed by the Government to close their doors on March 8 and cease activity until the July 2 to curb the spread of COVID-19
Being a family business with overheads and staff to pay, being closed for this long with no income became completely unsustainable.
Now that they are able to reopen, the theatre company is facing a huge challenge with social distancing rules in place, leading to their attendance and therefore income to drastically drop.
“This is going to be a tough recovery process, and we need all the support we can get.”
Help this jolly theatre stay afloat by purchasing a theatre gift voucher, booking a corporate training sesh, taking an online or in-house workshop, or by watching their online events, and help spread the word via your social media!
